What a shocking event! The iconic National Museum of Brazil was devastated by a tremendous fire, stealing away a treasure trove of history. Once one of the largest museums in the Americas, it housed an astonishing 20 million items that captivated the imagination.

Radio France International has done a fantastic job covering this heartbreaking story, connecting us to the rich legacy we’ve lost. On September 2, 2018, a fierce blaze erupted in Rio de Janeiro, engulfing this 200-year-old establishment in flames.

বিশ্ব বেতার দিবস ২০১৮ উদযাপনের জন্য এবার আমার ভ্রমণ ক্ষেত্র ছিল ওডিষা। এবারের পুরি যাওযার অন্যতম আর একটা উদ্দেশ্য ছিল ভারতের বৃহৎ হৃদ Chilika Lake দেখা। ঢাকা থেকে সপরিবারে ০৯ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০১৮  কোলকাতা পৌচ্ছাই আর সেখান থেকে ১০ তারিখ ভোরে রওনা হয়ে বিকেল ৩টে নাগাদ পুরি। তৃতীয় দিন অর্থাৎ ১১ ফেব্রুয়ারি চলে গেলাম  চিল্কা দর্শণ করতে।

Radio France International বা RFI এর সাথে আমার সখ্যতা ও শ্রোতা হিসেবে ডি-এক্স জগতে পদচারণ এক সাথে। স্কুলের গন্ডি পেরিয়ে সবে রাজশাহী কলেজে ভর্তি হয়েছি। নতুন পরিবেশ, নতুন বন্ধু, নতুনভাবে নিজেকে চিনতে শেখার সোনালী  সময়। সেই সময়ে এক শীতের সকালে বেতার যন্ত্রের সাথে পরিচয় করিয়ে দিয়েছিলেন আমার সহপাঠি সাবিনার ভাই।

রেডিও আমার শখ, একবারে শৈশব থেকেই রেডিও আমার সাথী। য়তদূর মনে পড়ে ১৯৬৯ সালে প্রথম রেডিও আসে আমাদের বাড়িতে। বাবা চাকুরিজীবি। বছরে দু’একবার আসতেন বাড়িতে- ত্রিপুরায় এক অজ পাড়াগাঁয়ে।

আমি একজন ক্ষুদ্র বেতার শ্রোতা। যার সূচনা হয়েছিল যখন আমি চতুর্থ শ্রেণিতে পড়ি। আমাদের বাড়িতে তখন টিভি ছিল না। বিনোদনের একমাত্র মাধ্যম হিসাবে ছিল একটা ব্যাটারি চালিত রেডিও। বাবা সেই রেডিও দিয়ে খবর শোনে। আমি সুযোগ পেলেই মাঝেমধ্যে গান শুনি।

গান শুনতে আমার খুব ভালো লাগে। কিন্ত মা রেডিও বাজাতে দেয় না, ব্যাটারি শেষ হয়ে যাবে বলে। বাবা যখন রেডিও অন করে খবর শোনে আমি তখন  পাশে বসে থাকি। এভাবে রেডিওতে গান, খবর ও অন্যান্য অনুষ্ঠান শোনার প্রতি আগ্রহ আমাকে আন্তর্জাতিক বেতার গুলোর সাথে পরিচয় করিয়ে দেয়।
